FAQs

What does OASIS stand for?

The primary purpose of the Organization of Asian Indians at AT&T (OASIS) is to provide employees of AT&T with opportunities for self-development, professional enhancement, networking and support of AT&T’s business goals, while promoting greater understanding and appreciation of the cultural diversity among the AT&T workforce.

OASIS depends on leveraging the talents and ideas of its members and sponsors to optimally extend its reach and impact to the communities within and outside of AT&T. We urge all our members and volunteers to participate to the fullest extent in OASIS & other ERG led programs that are held in AT&T locations across the country. With your enthusiastic engagement and leadership, we are confident that as an ERG we are already making a noticeable difference in our communities nationwide.

What is an ERG?

AT&T has eleven Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that are open to all employees and reflect the diversity of the company’s employees. These ERGs support the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion through their efforts in the workplace, marketplace and the community. AT&T recognizes the value and goodwill that these groups can provide in furthering the company’s goals, values and interests. Employee resource groups include representation for women, African Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, Native Americans, LGBT employees, employees with disabilities, veterans, and young professionals.

Who can join OASIS?

OASIS is open to all AT&T employees who support the OASIS mission and goals.

All new members who are AT&T employees must go on the AT&T ERG website (http://ebiz.sbc.com/erg/) to join.

What kind of activities, community services, workshops does OASIS support or sponsor?

Whether you’re an experienced community leader or a novice who wants to learn the ropes, serving on the OASIS Chapter Boards or the National Board gives you a great collaborative forum to network & share your ideas with other OASIS members as well as company leaders in different parts of the company. Members get a chance to hone their own skills through volunteering and/or mentoring, employee development and training initiatives. Cultural celebrations of diversity further enhance the overall experience.

We would love to hear your community engagement & volunteering ideas! Please email Meena Gurumoorthy, VP Community Outreach, OASIS National Board if you are:

  • Interested in discussing a Volunteer opportunity
  • Want to share information on an upcoming event that would be of interest to OASIS member
  • Seeking to recognize your peer(s) who made a difference to OASIS or the extended Community
